How To Spot An Online Dating Scammer

 

There is a new wave of crime spreading across the World Wide Web.  Online dating scams are being a major problem around the globe.  Anyone can be a target for this type of crime and often too many people fall victim to these fraudulent masterminds.  When people are looking for love, its easy to take advantage of them.  Along with their hearts, victims of these online dating scams are opening their wallets and bank accounts, too.  Do you know how to spot an online dating scam?  If the answer is no, you need to read on and learn how to protect yourself against scammers.

 

I’ll be outlining 6 ways to protect you against online dating scams.  By follow these steps you’ll be more aware of signs of online scams.

 

Step 1; keep an eye out for people contact you who seem to be a lot younger than you.  Often, online dating scammer will contact people who are considerably older than them.  The scammer’s logic here is that they think this older person is going to have more riches.  Moreover, they think at an older person will be more desperate to find love and therefore more will to give up access to accounts and send money.

 

Step 2; lookout for descriptions in profiles that state the person is working overseas, are self-employed or just listed as a common professional.  Without having a substantial job or company, they’re probably a fake profile or an online dating scammer.

 

Step 3; read and re-read all e-mails sent by people you meet online.  Most times, when an online dating scammer will have discrepancies in their e-mail.  Often, they will misspell their names, use the wrong name, mess up their stories and get their lies entangled.  The grammar will be poor and the text will not flow.

 

Step 4; make sure you setup phone conversation with the person.  If they refuse this is a clear sign they’re trying to scam you.  If they take the call watch out for accents and broken English.  Often these scammers will be international.  If possible, try to set up an actual face-to-face meeting; this is the best way to figure out what is happening with your online dating.

Step 5; be careful of eagerness to have many phone calls or excessive texting right from the beginning.  This is a clear sign that something is not right.  Moreover, if the passion escalates quickly with I love you and other terms of endearment, you’ll need to take a step back… this is problem an online dating scam.

 

Step 6; they have you now, or do they?  Watch out for the final phase of their plan.  Just when you think you’re going to meet they will come up with some finical disaster and need you help.  This will delay you meeting, but give them more money.  Sadly, this is the final sign that you have been a victim of an online scam.

 

Review these steps and lookout for the signs of an online dating scammer.  Don’t become a victim to these lairs and thieves.  You need to prefect yourself against this terrible trend affect people world wide.
